
“NEW YORK, NEW YORK” Actors, Singers and Dancers helping New York’s economic recovery! On September 28th, two weeks after the September 11th attack, over 500 cast members, performers of Broadway shows, many in costume, gathered in Duffy Square on the Great White Way to shoot a television event.
The League of American Theatres and Producers, Inc., formed in 1930 as The League of New York Theatres, is the official trade association for the commercial theatre industry. The League’s constituency includes theatre owners and operators, producers, presenters, and general managers of Broadway and touring legitimate theatrical productions in New York and over 140 major cities across the United States and Canada.
Each year, the League and its members bring Broadway to nearly 25 million people in New York and more than 140 cities across the US and Canada.

The League of American Theatres and Producers, Inc. has created and developed the official theatre tour: BROADWAY OPEN HOUSE Presented by VISA, it is a two-hour walking tour of New York’s historic Theatre District with exclusive access into the interior of 15 landmarked playhouses.
Guides will lead the tour through the Theatre District, while treating the participants to behind-the-scenes stories of the stars and the shows that have played in these historic houses. Participants will learn about the legendary stars of the Great White Way from the golden age of Broadway to today’s hot shows. Insights about the architecture, restoration and the history of Broadway theatres will also be included.
You might even catch a rehearsal or see the technical crew preparing for an evening performance. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the Broadway Ticket Center located inside the Times Square Visitor Center, (on Broadway between 46th & 47th Streets, next to the Palace Theatre).
